Use naming conventions to create logical resource groupings:

• By Environment: All production resources share prod- prefix
• By Project: Related services grouped under project name
• By Region: Multi-region resources identified by region code
• By Function: Resource type or purpose in the suffix

When to Use

This pattern is ideal when you need:

• Quick identification of resource ownership
• Filtering resources by environment or project
• Grouping related resources for monitoring and alerting
• Organizing resources across multiple teams

Considerations

• Balance between descriptive names and AWS name length limits
• Consider how names appear in CloudWatch metrics and logs
• Plan for resource name collisions across projects
• Document naming patterns for all team members
